How to stay away from Computer Viruses?

Avoid Viruses

Here are some tips to avoid computer viruses and other malicious software.
  • Keep your system patched. Be sure to promptly install Windows updates, Adobe updates, Java updates, Apple updates, etc. This is much more important than the anti-virus software, and for the most part is not that hard, as long as keep it going. Most of these companies have mostly constant informally releasing new patch on the same day of each month, so if it remains in force does not break as often
  • Do not run as administrator by default. In later versions of Windows, which is as simple as leaving UAC enabled.
  • Use a good firewall tool. These days the default Windows firewall is pretty good. It is recommended to integrate this with something like WinPatrol layer which helps to stop malicious activity on the front end. Windows Defender works in this capacity to some extent.
  • Run Current antivirus software. This is the fourth is for the top three software as traditional A / V often is not only more effective. It is also important to emphasize the "current". You could have the best antivirus software in the world, but if not updated, you might as well uninstall it. For this reason, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials now. There are probably much better analysis engines out there, but Security Essentials are kept up to date, without running the risk of a lapsed registration. AVG and Avast also work well in this way. I can not recommend any anti-virus software you have to pay really, because it is too common a decade of paid subscription and you end up with definitions out of date.
  • Avoid warez, pirated software, and movies / videos pirates. This material is often injected to the threats of the person who has broken or published - not always, but often enough to avoid the whole mess. It's part of the reason that the cracker could do this: sometimes you will get a share of the profits.
  • Use your head when you are browsing the web. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Sharing is sexy
